The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust at Welney is always a great day out. The wintering swans have just started arriving back at Welney and it is well worth a visit just to see them congregate and watch they being fed (normally 12 noon and 3.30pm). If your children are a little older or quite resilient, it is well worth being there for one of the floodlit evenings when skies around Welney being to resemble the feathered equivalent of a very busy day at Heathrow or Gatwick with literally thousands of swans coming in from the fields to roost. It is a sight worth seeing and very noisy too! There is a large heated hide very close to the car park and you are normally able to temporaily swap your car keys for a pair of binoculars.
