taff at Shepreth Wildlife Park have
been very busy over the winter months
making improvements both to the park
generally and, in particular, to the resident’s housing. A brand new Macaw aviary
will enable the birds to exercise their wings a little more easily and Tyge, a ‘teenage’
puma has a new home as part of a major refurbishment programme. This Spring has
seen the arrival of a host of baby prairie dogs and by Easter, the park will be proudly
showing off a new baby Joey emerging from its mother’s wallaby pouch.
If learning
about wildlife and getting a more rounded knowledge is of interest to you, then stop
by and enjoy one of the many feeding time slots the park offers daily. There are four
feeding zones on offer and each is coupled with a talk by the keeper on the chosen
species. The Lemurs are fed at 12 noon daily, the Raccoons and Coatis at 1pm (as
they’re side by side) and the Tigers at 3pm everyday except Wednesday.
Those of
you who love the smallest creatures in the park in Bug City, will be pleased to see
that they haven’t been left out and the City has had a mini facelift and now offers
offers a new interactive wall feature for children to learn more about insects and bugs– here seeing really is believing!
The Park makes a great day out for everyone and
has plenty of facilities for using up energy! A new toddler zone has been created
which will officially open this Easter. It is next to the play area and features an
undercover soft play area, a ball pit and a toggle bridge. Older children can bounce
on the trampoline or have fun on the Sea Monkey pirate ship outside. The Park is
situated just 6 miles south of Cambridge on the A10 and is open 7 days a week from
10am - 6pm. If you don’t have a car or would prefer to use public transport, the park
is just 2 minutes walk from the station.
