Where to see Santa this Christmas

Scotsdale Garden Centre

A visit to Scotsdale Garden Centre is something that has always been popular with my own children as they love to spend time looking at all the pets and fish, but at this time of year it has the added attraction of their extensive Christmas display and the opportunity to see Santa. Children can take a sleigh ride with Rudolph to Santa’s Grotto which is great fun and good value for money. Once they have had their consultation with Santa, they can amuse themselves looking at the seasonal displays.

Wicksteed Park Christmas Experience
From Saturday November 23rd, the Wicksteed Christmas Express will be running at Wicksteed Park, near Kettering. The Wicksteed train will be taking children and their parents on an exciting journey through the themed areas to visit Santa Claus in his new grotto, where children will receive a special gift from Santa. The train will be running from 11am - 5pm every weekend and then daily from 18th December. A great day out and no need to book.

Nene Valley Railway
At Nene Valley Railway your Santa experience starts with a welcome from the station staff, with entertainment provided at busy weekends. This is followed by an enjoyable visit to Santa's log cabin where each child receives a special present from the man himself. Following a short wait, it’s then time for everyone to relax and enjoy the picturesque train ride through Ferry Meadows Country Park to Peterborough and back, during which children are served with a Thomas drink and some chocolate or sweets, whilst the adults are treated to a hot drink or an alcoholic miniature and a mince pie. Santa joins the visitors on the train and walks through to wish everyone the compliments of the season. The whole outing lasts at least 2 hours. At the weekends, Thomas will also be in steam around Wansford during your visit and a well-stocked Thomas shop provides a great opportunity for some last minute shopping. Santa Specials are extremely popular and it is therefore essential to book in advance. Booking forms are available by phoning 01780 782833 from 10am - 3pm or visiting their web site at www.nvr.org.uk.
